The spokesman of US Navy states that the development activities will include testbed, flight test and aircraft systems of X-47B. In April 2014, separated flight test has been performed, covered night time operations in Maryland facility. In this flight test funding has distinguished with another project.

The UCAS-D programme most has been covered from Northrop Grumman yet US Navy has another project to be offered. Unmanned carrier launched airborne surveillance (UCLASS) also offers to aircraft manufacturer. Currently, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin and Boeing are bidding for the UCLASS programme. UCLASS programme is expected to enter the service in 2020.
